Own Correspondent: Today is World Tourism Day. Like other countries of the world, the day will be celebrated through various programs in Bangladesh. Various organizations, including Bangladesh Tourism Corporation and Bangladesh Tourism Board, have organized various programs on the occasion of the day.
This year the theme of the day is ‘Tourism is the Step of Peace’. The aim of the day is to spread the social, cultural, political, and economic benefits of tourism globally, including increasing public awareness about the role of tourism. On the occasion of the day, President Md. Sahabuddin and chief advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus gave a separate message. Crore papers will be published in newspapers on this occasion.
On the occasion of World Tourism Day, a procession will be held on the road in front of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation in Agargaon at 8:30 am. A seminar on the theme of the day will be held at ‘Shailprapat Hall’ of Tourism Bhawan at 9 a.m. The day has been celebrated on September 27 since 1980 under the initiative of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
Meanwhile, special discounts have been announced in hotels, motels, and restaurants on the occasion of the day. Bangladesh Tourism Corporation has organized a live cooking show on this occasion. Biman Bangladesh Airlines has announced special discounts on tickets. Also, with the aim of spreading the flavor of tourism among children, a tourism-centric painting and writing competition has been organized with children in each district.
Discount in tourism motel-hotel: Bangladesh Tourism Corporation has given 30 percent discount on room rent in hotel-motel. Tourists can enjoy this discount if they stay in any hotel of the tourism corporation today. Apart from the concessions, the tourism day will also feature live cooking shows and low-cost package tours.
Chief advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus said in his speech that the effective application of youth will play an important role in achieving positive and qualitative changes in the tourism industry. Peace can be established nationally and internationally through tourism. It is possible to exchange ideas of different nations and cultures of tourism. Through which bonds of harmony, amity, and peace are established. Bangladesh is a responsible and reliable name in maintaining internal peace and security as well as global peace efforts.
He said that Bangladesh has various resources to attract domestic and foreign tourists.
