The Crime Desk: The Election Commission (EC) canceled the four National Identity Cards (NID) issued by two brothers, Harish Ahmed and Tofail Ahmed, alias Joseph, under the influence of former army chief General Aziz Ahmed.
On Tuesday (September 24), the Secretary General of the EC’s National Identity Registration Division said. Mahbub Alam Talukder informed us of this information.
He said four identity cards were issued in the name of his two brothers, Haris and Joseph, on the initiative of former army chief General Aziz. Evidence of giving false information was found in those NIDs. All four NIDEs of Taita have been blocked from EC servers. As a result, they will not get any service related to NID verification.
General Aziz Ahmed was the Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh from June 2018 to June 2021. Aziz Ahmed’s two brothers, Harish and Joseph, have changed their names as well as their parents’ names. Harish Ahmed changed his name to Mohammad Hasan and Joseph in NID and wrote Tanveer Ahmed Tanjeel. Apart from this, they have also changed their address.
The NID wing of the commission constituted a three-member committee to investigate how Harish Ahmed and Tofail Ahmed, alias Joseph, obtained NID cards with false information.
