Khagrachari Correspondent: A 72-hour strike called by the angry Jumma students is going on in Khagrachari and Rangamati over the attacks, murders, and burning of Bihar houses.
On the first day of the blockade, traffic in Khagrachari was stopped. The road communication between Khagrachari and Dhaka and Chittagong has been stopped. Besides, road communication is closed in inter-upazilas, including Dighinala, Panchari, and Matiranga of Khagrachari.
The UPDF has expressed full support to the 72-hour road and waterway blockade program in the three hill districts announced by the rally organized by the angry Jumma students in Dhaka.
The organization expressed its support in a press release signed by Niran Chakma, Head of Publicity and Publication Department of UPDF, on Friday.
In support of the blockade, the besiegers burned tires on Khagrachari Sajek Road, Panchari, and Ramgarh Road on Saturday morning.
Superintendent of Police of Khagrachari Arefin Jewel said public life is normal during the siege. Security has been beefed up. District headquarters and upazilas are patrolled by police, the army, and BGB.
