Khagrachari Correspondent: A 72-hour road and waterway blockade has begun on Saturday (September 21) morning to protest the attacks, arson, and killings in Khagrachari and Rangamati. No long-distance vehicles left Khagrachari due to the road blockade. Although some light vehicles ply within the city, traffic is limited.
A rally in Dhaka called for the blockade of roads and waterways on Friday. The regional organization United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) announced the blockade in support of the program.
Khagrachari headquarters on Wednesday morning on the charge of theft. Mamun was beaten and injured. Later, he died while undergoing treatment at Khagrachari Hospital. As a result of that incident, 3 people were killed and several others were injured in an unpleasant incident in Dighinala and Khagrachari Sadar. Hundreds of shops were burned in Dighinala.
However, the overall law and order situation in the district is very calm at present. No untoward incidents have been reported so far.
