International Desk: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was waiting at her home in Kalighat to discuss with the agitating junior doctors regarding the rape-murder of doctors at RG Kar Hospital. But the meeting collapsed due to a live broadcast.

When the agitating doctors wanted to broadcast the meeting live, Mamata denied it, thus canceling the discussion on Saturday. This information has been published in the report of Indian media NDTV.

According to the report, a delegation of junior doctors went to Mamata’s house in Kalighat on Saturday evening to meet with 5-point demands. They were accompanied by two videographers. Mamata requested the protesters to go inside the house in the rain.

However, due to the issue of that video recording, the doctors waited outside the house. The agitating doctors did not agree to the meeting, as Mamata did not allow the live broadcast of the meeting.

At one point, Mamata left the house and told the doctors, “If you don’t want to talk to me, don’t talk to me.” Don’t have a meeting; at least have a cup of tea. Don’t get wet. I will feel bad if you are sick.

But the doctors did not respond to that. When the demand for live broadcast again, Mamatar asked, “Why are you doing so much disrespect?” Before this, I waited for two days in Navanna. Even today I am waiting for two hours.

However, the agitating doctors complained that the videographers were not allowed to enter. They claimed that the Chief Minister objected to making separate videos of them along with the government. There is also a debate about this.

A war of nerves has been going on since the beginning of this meeting. The five-point demand will not be withdrawn, the junior doctors have clarified. The biggest demand is that the entire meeting should be telecasted live to maintain transparency. At least 30 delegations were demanded to be allowed to attend the meeting.

But the state government is adamant about this too. Mamata said, ’15 of you were supposed to come. 40 of you have come. Can one man’s house seat 40 people?’

At one point, State Minister for Health Chandrima Bhattacharya, Chief Secretary Manoj Pant, and Home Secretary Nandini Chakraborty left the Chief Minister’s house in Kalighat.

Earlier, the meeting was scheduled to be held at the state government secretariat Nabanna last Thursday. However, the junior doctors were adamant in their demand for live broadcasting from Shur. The Mamata government objected to this.
