Cox’s Bazar representative: Students of Cox’s Bazar Nursing and Midwifery College presented a unilateral demand demanding the resignation of the entire faculty committee. 5 teachers and 11 students were detained for about 8 hours by making allegations that male students ambushed female students without complying with their demands. Later at midnight, two resident medical officers of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital, Additional District Magistrate, Army, RAB came, and after meeting for about three hours, all the teachers resigned. Because of this, the college became empty of teachers.
The students of nursing college started a movement last Sunday afternoon. 5 teachers and 11 students were detained from 3 pm. Later, the teachers resigned from the college around 12:30 pm. The two resident medical officers of Kangbazar Sadar Hospital coordinated the discussion on the whole matter. GRM Jihadul Islam and Dr. Ashiqur Rahman.
Jihadul Islam said, in several hours of meeting, several attempts were made to solve it. The teachers accepted the students’ demands. All the teachers have resigned as per their demand. Now the college is vacant of teachers. The DGMN will look into how this crisis can be resolved. Sadar Hospital Superintendent Edim Tara will write the letter.
Meanwhile, the students expressed their satisfaction as the demand was accepted and expressed their insecurity. Movement coordinator Urmi Akhter said we demanded a corruption-free campus. As the entire faculty was involved in the corruption, I asked for their resignation. We are satisfied that our demand has been accepted. But our movement is not over yet. The college is now teacherless. So we suffer from insecurity. Let us have security.
