The Crime Desk: After the one-party movement to overthrow the government and Sheikh Hasina’s ouster, various police stations were attacked. In this, weapons were looted from various units and duty stations, including the police station. The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced a joint operation to recover these weapons from September 4.

On Sunday (September 1), Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Home Affairs Faisal Ahmed confirmed this information in a circular.

According to the notification, an operation to recover illegal weapons will be conducted from September 4, 2024.

Some of the weapons and ammunition looted by the police have already been recovered. The operation to recover the remaining looted arms and ammunition is continuing.

Law and order forces have been calling for the return of looted weapons after the formation of the interim government. If these looted arms and ammunition are not returned by September 3, legal action will be taken, the police headquarters said.

Besides, the Ministry of Home Affairs suspended the licenses of firearms given to civilians in the last 15 years. September 3 is the deadline to submit these weapons.
