Dinajpur Correspondent: In Dinajpur, small ethnic groups took to the streets with bows and arrows to demand 9 points. They protested against their constitutional recognition, the formation of a separate ministry and land commission for the tribals of the plains, the restoration of the statue of the great leader of the Santal rebellion, Sidhu-Kanu, and the destruction of the sculpture, looting, arson, and land grabbing in the houses of the tribals across the country.

On Wednesday (August 28), the protest march came out from the Govt College intersection in Dinajpur city. After that, the procession came to the front of Dinajpur Press Club after circling the various roads of the city. Later, they held a protest rally there. Thousands of tribal men and women participated.

At the end of the protest rally, they submitted a memorandum containing nine-point demands to the Chief Adviser through the Deputy Commissioner.

Jatiya Adivasi Parishad Central Information and Research Secretary Manik Saren, Adivasi Mukti Morcha District General Secretary Manik Sarkar Murmu, University students Ishwar Tudu, Elias Murmu, Monika Marandi, etc. spoke in the rally.

At the time, they said, more than 20 lakh tribals of Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions of Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions live in the plains of the north-western part of Bangladesh. Tribals participated in the great war of liberation and fought bravely.

They also said that after the fall of the fascist government through the united uprising of the student population on August 5, some miscreants systematically vandalized, looted, arson, and occupied land across the country. The tribals were also not spared from this unjust oppression. Still in the tribal villages, the tribals keep vigil at night for their safety. Tribals are today suffering from insecurity as most of the perpetrators are out of touch and not brought to justice.
