Office of the Chief Adviser is ready at a cost of Tk 50 crore

Officials of the Directorate of Public Works said that the anger of the angry students who participated in the mass uprising on August 5 was manifested in important buildings, including the Prime Minister’s office, Ganobhaban, and Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. About 50 crore rupees were initially spent to repair the damage to this office. Public Works Directorate Chief Engineer Mohammad Shamim Akhtar was made the head and Director of the Chief Adviser’s Office Moniruzzaman as member secretary, and the reform work was conducted. Strict security measures are taken during the renovation work. Complete electrical, civil, computer, security, and painting work has to be done. The sitting room of all the officials concerned with the Chief Adviser has also been fixed.

Officials said that the amount of damage to the Prime Minister’s office alone, including the red zone, secretary, director, and offices of various intelligence agencies, is at least over a hundred million rupees. Some of the furniture was renovated and made usable, but many had to be thrown away. Since the next head of government will sit in this office, the chief adviser said that the office of the prime minister should be completely renovated. Muhammad Yunus. Because decorating any other building as the office of the Chief Adviser of the Interim Government requires a lot of expenses, Dr. Muhammad Yunus feels that if the next government prepares another building as the office of the Chief Adviser, the next government may not use it. Therefore, to prevent wastage, the Prime Minister’s office was ordered to be functional.

It is known that since 1991, the old National Parliament building in Tejgaon, Dhaka city, has been used as the Prime Minister’s office. The newly departed Prime Minister usually performed official functions here on a daily basis. Most of the Cabinet meetings are held here. However, the Bangladesh Secretariat also has the official office of the Prime Minister. The outgoing Prime Minister sometimes held office there as well. A cabinet meeting was also held. It was the President’s Secretariat till 1991.
