The Crime Desk: Bangladesh Awami League Office Secretary and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Special Assistant Barrister Biplab Barua, Bangladesh Awami League Central Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Aminul Islam Amin, former MP Nezam Uddin Nadvi, and more than 200 leaders and activists of Lohagara Satkania Awami League have filed a case at Chittagong’s Lohagara police station.
On August 26 (Monday), Mofizur Rahman’s son, Mohammad Momen Hossain Joy, a resident of the Old Thana area of the Sadar Union of the upazila, filed the case as the plaintiff.
According to the statement of the case, after the fall of the Awami League government on August 5 in the face of the anti-discrimination student movement, in the afternoon of the Battali station of the Chittagong Cox’s Bazar highway, they stopped the movement of the students from all walks of life, beat them severely, exploded explosives, and scattered the students by shooting. Pre-planned attacks on the student crowd with indigenous weapons, chapatis, iron rods, etc., vandalism of various institutions, and setting fire to several CNG-powered autorickshaws created a dire situation. It is mentioned in the statement of the case that there has been a loss of about crores of rupees.
Among others in the case, former MP Nadbhipatni Rizia Reza Chowdhury, Mayor of Satkania Municipality Mohammad Jobair, General Secretary of Satkania Upazila Awami League Qutub Uddin Chowdhury, Zilla Parishad member Erfanulak Haque Chowdhury, Suraiya Haque Lily, former member Anwar Kamal, Swachip leader Dr. Minhaj, various UP Chairman Lohagara-Satkania Awami League activists, and a total of 202 people have been accused.
