The Crime Desk: Despite many problems, limitations, and regrets, some people call Dhaka the city of Maya, the city of magic, etc. Some have come to Dhaka to make a living, and some to fulfill their dreams. Though separate from the place of personal feelings, Dhaka is now the city of demand for everyone. And now Shahbagh has become a big center of making demands. Every day, some groups are gathering there with their demands.

Recently, after the fall of the Awami League-led government, various groups are taking to the streets with various demands. A fragmented movement is being created around these demands. Dr. Since the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus assumed power, the employees, professionals, traders, and rickshaw pullers are all active in trying to get their demands.

Those who are in the field with different demands are all working under the banner of anti-discrimination. They also named their organization to match the name of the anti-discrimination student movement.

In this regard, the officials-employees of Palli Vidyut Samiti have withdrawn the pre-announced public resignation and public holiday program. They were supposed to hold this program from Wednesday (August 28). There was a fear of power outages. After the meeting with the electricity department on Tuesday, the Palli Vidyut Samiti anti-discrimination movement announced the withdrawal of the program by sending a press release.

Last Sunday (August 25), the members of Ansar surrounded the secretariat and clashed with the students. After the incident, 377 Ansar members were arrested and sent to prison.

On Monday (August 26), pedal-powered rickshaw drivers left Shahbagh with a 72-hour ultimatum to meet their one-point demand. Their only demand is that engine-driven rickshaws cannot ply on the main roads of the city.

After the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government on August 5 and the assumption of the interim government on August 8, various groups came forward with various demands. Many protested in front of the Secretariat area and Chief Adviser’s residence ‘Yamuna’ on Minto Road with their demands.

After the clash with Ansar in the Secretariat on Sunday night, considering the situation, Dhaka Metropolitan Police has banned any kind of meetings, processions, and gatherings in the Secretariat and its surrounding areas and the residence area of the Chief Adviser. However, the government has systematically introduced demands.

After besieging the secretariat throughout the day on Sunday, Ansar members entered the secretariat at night and surrounded the advisers and officials. More than 50 people were injured in the clash when students of the anti-discrimination student movement went there after receiving the news. Army personnel went and brought the situation under control. After that incident, 377 Ansar members have been sent to jail so far.

On Thursday (August 22), various programs were held in front of the secretariat of the capital under the banner of at least 12 organizations, including human chains and protest marches. Hundreds of students from Rampura came to the secretariat demanding that outsourcing, project, and contractual employees should not be appointed to government jobs without competitive examination. They gave different slogans. Later, a five-member delegation of them went to the Ministry of Youth and Sports. They said that the secretary of the ministry promised to meet their demands.

Apart from this, Bangladesh Betar, Bangladesh Television, Wasa, Desa, and secretariat staff of various government, semi-government, and private organizations are in the field with their demands. Their main reason for dissatisfaction is denial of promotion and non-permanence of job. Again, those who have been fired at different times have also entered the field to get their jobs back.

There is now a movement to reduce salaries in private universities in the country. Different groups of students are also demanding the resignation of VCs of various universities. Some are forced to resign. 43 universities in the country now do not have VCs. They were forced to resign.
