The Crime Desk: BNP Organizational Secretary (suspended) Shama Obaid Islam Rinku (52) has been charged in connection with the murder of Kabir Bhuiyan (50), a supporter of Krishak Dal’s Central General Secretary (post suspended) Shahidul Islam, in Nagarkanda, Faridpur. Monzila Begum (44), the wife of Kabir Bhuiyan, who was killed at Nagarkanda police station on Friday (August 23) around 1 o’clock, filed the case as a plaintiff.
Aminur Rahman, OC of Nagarkanda Police Station, said that Monzila Begum, the wife of deceased Kabir Bhuiya, filed a written complaint with the police station. Based on the complaint, the murder case is being prepared on Saturday (August 24).
According to the complaint source, BNP central committee organizing secretary Shama Obaid has been made the main accused. Apart from this, Senior Vice President of Nagarkanda Upazila BNP Habibur Rahman Babul Talukdar, General Secretary Saifur Rahman Mukul, Vice President Alamgir Hossain Bakul, Former Chairman of Kodalia Shaheednagar Union Parishad Mizanur Rahman Mizan, Youth Dal Leader Masudur Rahman Taiyab, Helaluddin Helal, and Former Joint General Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan North Youth Dal. A total of 36 people have been named, including Hafizur Rahman Sharif, and 50 to 60 other unidentified persons have been made accused.
On Wednesday (August 21), Krishak Dal leader Shahidul Islam’s motor procession was scheduled to end in Faridpur town via Banga Chaurasta, Nagarkanda Upazila Sadar, and Talmar intersection. However, the supporters of Shama Obaid attacked the supporters of Shahidul Islam in Nagarkanda Sadar and took possession of them and held an armed exercise in the market. Kabir Bhuiyan, a resident of Chagaldi Mahalla of Nagarkanda Municipality and a supporter of Shahidul Islam, was killed in this attack. Later that evening, in a press conference at Faridpur Press Club, Shahidul Islam complained and said, “I say unequivocally, Shama Obaid Islam is the mastermind of this murder.” I am clearly saying this. He is the helper and guide of the murder.
In this context, on Wednesday (August 21) night, in two separate letters signed by Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Senior Joint Secretary General of BNP, suspended all the posts of Shahidul and Shama Obaid, including the primary membership of BNP.
