Waterlogging in the city due to continuous rains

City Reporter: The port city has been submerged under waist-deep water due to continuous heavy rains for several hours. On Tuesday (August 20) from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., 4 hours of rain inundated most areas of the city, causing waterlogging. Traffic has been disrupted on various roads in the city since morning due to waterlogging. Gate number two of the city, Bahaddar Hat, and Muradpur area is really terrible. The residents of the city have suffered greatly.

Residents of the Muradpur area of the city said that our area is under waist-deep water. Traffic almost stopped. People are unable to move even on foot. The basements of many shops and businesses have been flooded.

Residents of Bahaddar Hat area said that Bahaddar Hat, Chandgaon, and Shulakbahan area are all under water. There is no way to open a shop and do business. Water has also entered inside the shop.

It has been reported that due to continuous rain since morning, waterlogging has occurred in various areas of the city, including gate number two, Chak Bazar, Baklia, Shulkbahar, Pravartak, Panchlaish, Badurtala, Chandgaon, Agrabad, CDA, and Halishahar. In some places, roads and alleys are submerged in waist-deep water.

Chittagong Meteorological Office Forecast Officer Md. Ismail Bhuiyan said that 73 millimeters of rainfall have been recorded in Chittagong in the previous 24 hours till noon. 60 mm of rain fell in these three hours from 9 am to 12 pm on Tuesday. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Chittagong in the next 48 hours as well. There is also a risk of landslides due to continuous rains.
