The Crime Desk: A case of murder has been filed against 62 people, including the former MP of Comilla-6 (Sadar) constituency, AKM Baharuddin Bahar, and his daughter Kusik Mayor Tahsin Bahar. The case was filed on charges of hacking and shooting a hotel employee named Masum (22) during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Abdul Hannan of Dishaband village of Sadar Dakshin Upazila of the district filed the case as a plaintiff at around 12:30 pm on Sunday. This is the first case against Bahar and Kusik mayoralty after the fall of the Awami League.
Sadar South Model Police Station OC Md. Alamgir Hossain said that a youth named Machum was shot and killed in a protest procession in the Nandanpur area of the Sadar Dakshin Upazila of the district on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway on the afternoon of August 4 during the movement of students and people. Machum is the son of Shaheen Mia from the North Rampur area of the same upazila.
OC said former MP Bahar and his daughter Dr. are in the case. Suchan (the city mayor) has been accused of instigating the attack. We will conduct investigations into the case as well as arrest the accused.

Former MP Bahar was elected Member of Parliament for 4 consecutive times from the Comilla-6 (Sadar) Constituency in 2008 on a boat nomination. He is also the president of the Metropolitan Awami League. His eldest daughter Souchna was elected mayor in the city elections on March 9 this year. He is the organizing secretary of the Metropolitan Awami League.
Machum’s father Shaheen Mia said, “My son is innocent; why was he killed like this?” He had two bullet wounds on his left leg and a sharp weapon wound on the back of his head. I demand severe punishment for my son’s killers.
After the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, the angry student crowd vandalized and set fire to former MP Bahar’s residence, Sonali Square Market, owned by him, and the metropolitan Awami League office. Bahar and his daughter Suchna are currently in hiding.
