The Crime Desk: Chittagong University (CU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Abu Taher submitted his resignation letter. Prior to this, the Vice-Chancellor applied for exemption from the post, University Registrar Professor KM Noor Ahmad said on Monday (August 12) morning.
During the anti-discrimination student movement, there were demands for his resignation for not preventing BCL violence in the university and for adopting a silent stance. The students then gave an ultimatum stating the deadline for resignation.
In view of this, on August 9, the provosts of three halls, including the proctorial body, submitted their resignations. Later, other pastors also resigned.
It is known that Professor Dr. Md. Abu Taher applied to join the university’s management department as a professor, seeking exemption from the post of vice chancellor. In view of the application. Abu Taher has been relieved from the post of Vice-Chancellor, said the Registrar of the University.
