Nagar Reporter: Two people were killed in the clashes between the protestors and the police stationed at Bahaddarhat in the city. One of the victims was Imad, a student at Patia College. The other person has not been identified.
Besides, three policemen injured in the clash have been admitted to Chamek Hospital.
Two of the injured policemen are Samia and Nooruddin. The clash started on Thursday (July 18) around 2 p.m. when the anti-quota protesters took a position at Bahaddarhat junction.
Chittagong Medical College’s (CHMEC) emergency department doctor said that when a person was brought to the hospital with serious injuries, he was declared dead. Besides, three injured policemen have been admitted.
On the ground, it was seen that the policemen were retreating in the face of the fire of the quota activists. After about half an hour, the police fired sound grenades, rubber bullets, and tear shells to bring the situation under control. At that time, the protesters set fire to the police box in Bahaddarhat. At one point, the protesters took a stand in front of the Chandgao police station. After that, the police station was attacked. At this time, the protestors once again had a three-way clash with the police and the Chhatra League.
Earlier on July 16, three people were killed in a student-chatra league clash in Muradpur.
