Nagar Pratvidek: There has been a clash between Chhatra League leaders and activists in the city demanding reform of the quota system. It was reported that several people were injured.

Meanwhile, Chittagong University (CU) also attacked the protestors in two rounds. Two people were seriously injured in this incident.

The clash started at 5 p.m. on Monday (July 15) in the Sholashahar area of the city. At this time, traffic stopped on the entire road. Till the latest news, the agitating students have taken a position in the area of the Sholshahar railway station and the activists of the Chhatra League in the area of gate number two and the Muradpur area. During the clash, the two sides chased each other and threw stones. It is said that several people were injured on both sides.

However, the agitating students claim that the Chhatra League has attacked their peaceful movement.

Meanwhile, on Monday (July 15) around 3:30 p.m., Chittagong University’s Shahid Minar and Katapahar Road were attacked in two rounds by the leaders and activists of the branch Chhatra League.

Earlier, BCL leaders and activists picked up Khan Talat Mahmud Rafi, coordinator of Kota Andolan Chabir, from the city-bound shuttle train at 2:30 p.m. Later, he was forcibly included in the BCL procession and taken to the proctor’s office. At this time, BCL followers were seen arguing with the proctor about canceling Rafi’s studentship.

Chhatra League leaders and activists claim that Talat Mahmud Rafi has been admitted to the university under the freedom fighter quota. However, since he has joined the quota movement, he has no right to study at this university.

Talat Mahmud Rafi, coordinator of Kota Andolan CHB, said, “I was forcibly brought to join the BCL procession. You all have seen how I have been treated. The university administration failed to provide me with security. Today at 3:30 pm, the train was stopped to stop our movement.

Earlier on Sunday (July 14) at 11:00 p.m., when the quota activists took out a protest procession, the BCL attacked them.

CU Proctor Dr.  Ahidul Alam said, “If the agitators don’t obey the court’s verdict, then we have no say about them.” We cannot go outside the court. And if the injured students complain, we will take action.
