The Crime Desk: Today is the fifth death anniversary of Jatiya Party’s (Japanese) late chairman and former president, HM Ershad. He died on July 14, 2019 while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Combined Military Hospital (CMH). Japa has taken various programs to observe the day.
On the occasion of his death anniversary, JAPA and its various organs and affiliated organizations will lay wreaths at Ershad’s portrait at JAPA’s central office premises in Kakrail in the capital. The remembrance and prayer ceremony will be held at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) auditorium in Ramna at 3 p.m. It will be presided over by the Leader of Opposition in Parliament and JPA Chairman GM Quader. It is reported that the party’s union, thana, upazila, metropolitan, district, and departmental committees across the country will organize discussion meetings, milad and doa, and discussion meetings on Ershad’s biography. JPA General Secretary Mujibul Haque Chunnu requested that the leaders and activists carry out the party programs properly.
Meanwhile, the Jatiya Party, led by Ershad’s wife, Roshan Ershad, has also taken a separate program on the occasion of Ershad’s death anniversary. Japa, led by GM Quader, held a memorial meeting at the IEB auditorium in the capital, but the Roshan-led section is organizing a separate memorial meeting and doa mahfil at the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) auditorium in Kakrail. The chairman of this section, Roshan Ershad, will preside over it. Apart from this, a day-long Quran reading is being organized at the party’s office in Gulshan. Kazi Mamunur Rashid, General Secretary of Roshan, has called upon the activists to carry out these programs properly.
