Dhaka Bureau: Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that the universal pension scheme for teachers will be launched on July 1 next year. He informed the political office of the Awami League president in Dhanmondi on Saturday afternoon. Earlier, he had a meeting with the delegation of university teachers.
Quader said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s data on the pension scheme for all in her speech, the information about teachers, is a mistake. That’s right, the date for everyone to be included in the pension scheme is July 1, 2025. We have told them this clearly.
He further said that, besides, the issue of giving super grades and individual higher scales will be discussed. We discuss the status, financial advantages, and disadvantages of all the teachers at public universities. We will raise it with the Prime Minister.
Mentioning that the next decision will be taken after discussion, the general secretary said that, based on the discussion, we hope that all problems will be resolved soon. We have requested that the university teachers call off the strike program. The teacher leaders said they would make the decision in organizational discussions with their federation leaders.
