The Crime Desk: Finally, Awami League General Secretary and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader held a meeting with a delegation of agitating university teachers demanding the cancellation of the universal pension scheme.
The meeting was held at the political office of the Awami League president in Dhanmondi, the capital, and ended at 1 p.m. Multiple sources in the party have confirmed this.
Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub Ul Alam Hanif, AFM Bahauddin Nashim, Office Secretary Biplab Barua, and State Minister for Education and Human Resource Affairs and Education Shamsunnahar Chapa were present in the meeting.
At the end of the meeting, there was a good discussion, said the Secretary General of the Bangladesh University Teachers Association Federation and President of the DU Teachers Association, Professor Dr. Md. Nizamul Haq Bhuiyan.
He said our three-point demand was discussed. There was an open discussion. I will discuss this with the Federation of Teachers Association and talk to the media.
Regarding the ongoing strike of the teachers, he said, we will take a decision by talking to the federation in all the universities, talking to the teachers’ association, and holding a meeting.
Why did you come to discuss your demands with the government and political parties? In response to such a question, he said, The Awami League general secretary is a national leader. He sat with us on the instructions of the Prime Minister.
