S. M. Akash: The UK general election will be held on July 4. Voters in each constituency elect an MP who represents them in the ‘House of Commons’.

There are 650 polling stations that are divided into different constituencies in this year’s UK elections. Most of the candidates who came to fight in the election field are representatives of multiple political parties. Besides, many will contest as independent candidates.

With the approval of the United Kingdom Electrical Commission, the country’s largest election monitoring organization, the Election Monitoring Forum (EMF), will monitor the election directly from Bangladesh. EMF Chairman Prof. Abed Ali will observe this world-discussed election on behalf of the organization. He is currently staying in the UK.

For the first time in the national elections of a progressive and developed country like the United Kingdom, the private monitoring organization Election Monitoring Forum (EMF) is representing the country on behalf of Bangladesh. According to various election analysts and prominent citizens of the country, such organized and responsible activities of the EMF are a good signal for Bangladesh, and such experience in practicing democracy for a democratic state will be a milestone in the future.
