The Crime Desk: At first sight, it seems like a responsible official of the republic. However, under the cover of this surat, he has spread a ‘terrible, ugly’ net of corruption that is difficult to feel, even in the slightest. Saying, Executive Engineer of Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC) Limited. Rajibul Hadi’s words. Hadi, who once played the politics of the BNP, changed the signboard of his political identity and established himself as an influential person. How to become the owner of huge wealth in just 16 years of career—Hadi’s story deserves research! Even if Hadi made himself the ‘terror’ of the DPDC by forming an irresistible syndicate, Hadi was not spared. Documents on his activities reached the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). The investigation may reveal another story of corruption.

According to DPDC and ACC sources, Rajibul Hadi is currently in charge of the project ‘Extension and strengthening of the electricity distribution system in the DPDC area’. Wherever Hadi goes, he builds syndicates. There was no exception here. He worked for the Chinese for the greed of money by undermining the interests of the country. Work with unqualified contractors instead of qualified contractors. For this, he took a huge amount of money as commission.

A strong question is now being raised in the engineering community about the appointment of corrupt people to sensitive and dream projects like Jituji (Government to Government). They are also raising questions about the quality of project work, saving the country’s money. Engineers say that the quality of work on this project will not be sustainable in the future if qualified engineers are not posted in DPDC for the G2 project. Due to the few corrupt engineers on this project, the cost of work will go up. If the expenditure increases, it will become an additional tax burden on the people of the state.

It has been found that Hadi has been working at DPDC for the last 16 years. Nazir Sankarpur of Jessore is his village home. In 2007, he started his career as an assistant engineer in the system engineering and design department of the Rural Electricity Board. I joined DPDC on July 9, 2008, by joining Distribution Planning (South Branch) as Assistant Manager (Executive Engineer). From then on, his fortune began to change. Hadi started working as a sub-divisional engineer (company secretariat) in 2014. Rajibul Hadi was working as an executive engineer in the Khilgaon Division of DPDC from April 17, 2018 to July 4, 2019. He was later transferred to the JTUG project on July 4, 2019.

According to a source in Khilgaon Division, at that time he misbehaved with the customers, harassed them, and made various excuses to not connect the new electricity connection if the customers did not pay a bribe. Later, when he got the money, he would give the customer’s connection. Even when he went to pay the electricity bill in installments, he used to demand interest from there.

A CBA leader, Hadi, an employee of Khilgaon Division at the time, said that when an electricity customer applied for a high-voltage electricity connection with reference to the State Minister of Power and Energy, he later took a bribe of one lakh taka from that customer. Then give him the connection. Due to the irregularities and arbitrariness of this executive engineer, some electricity consumers at the time made a written complaint to the then Managing Director of DPDC, Engineer Bikash Dewan, accusing him of several irregularities. Later, the officials of the head office transferred him from Khilgaon division to the JTUZ project with prize posting without dismissing him due to irregularity.

Transfers due to corruption irregularities are not new to Hadi. According to a responsible source concerned, DPDC attached Rajibul Hadi as OSD to the Tongi store for corruption, threats, and misconduct during his duties as Assistant Manager (Executive Engineer) South Branch Distribution Planning in 2008. The biggest allegation against Rajibul Hadi is that he smuggled all the secret documents of the JTUZ project to Chinese and domestic contractors in exchange for money. Because of this, DPDC’s managing director and project director warned him verbally several times.

Chhatra Dal cadre Hadi is now a color thief.
It has been found out about Hadi that he was once associated with Chhatra Dal politics, but he became a color thief after the Awami League government came to power. As soon as the Awami League came to power after one-eleven, he changed his past identity. That’s why he started establishing Ram-Rajtva in DPDC by introducing himself as the nephew of an MP from the government party in Jessore. Rajibul Hadi kept the DPDC official hostage, showing the hollow voice of party political influence. He misbehaves with his subordinates. He also threatened to take the jobs of many by abusing his power.

Other than Hadi’s preferred contractor, others do not get work.
According to a DPDC source, the ACC has received many complaints against Rajibul Hadi in the investigation of irregularities and corruption. His matter is now pending investigation. RisingBD has a document submitted to the ACC.

Sources say that Hadi designs and designs various works for Chinese private companies. He caused hundreds of crores of rupees in the design of nine-six projects. He recently helped a Chinese company named Sinom get a contract worth Rs 200 crore. In exchange for which he allegedly took 5% commission from there.

This reporter has been trying to find out about the complaint with Rajibul Hadi for the last three days. I called his cell phone, but he did not answer. I even sent a text message with no reply.

When asked about this matter, the senior secretary of the electricity department and the president of the board of directors of DPDC said, “Investigation should be done.” Habibur Rahman. He told RisingBD, ‘We want to show zero tolerance against corruption. I am keeping note of this matter.

Eradul Haque, deputy secretary of the electricity department and member of the board of directors of DPDC, told RisingBD, “In case of corruption, the matter will be investigated.”

When asked about Hadi’s corruption and irregularities, DPDC Executive Director (Engineering) Morshedul Alam Khan told RisingBD over the phone, “I am new here. Inquiring. If there is corruption, I will definitely take action. Those who are responsible must look into this matter. Whoever he is, no matter how influential he is, will not be exempted.’ Source: RisingBD.
