A Bangladeshi was killed in BSF firing at the Lalmonirhat border

Lalmonirhat Correspondent: A Bangladeshi cattle smuggler was killed in firing by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at the Kaliganj border in Lalmonirhat.

The incident took place in the area adjacent to boundary pillar number 919 of the Lohakuchi border of the upazila on Wednesday (June 26) at an at an early hour. The deceased is the son of deceased Moinuddin of Lohakuchi border area of Nurul Islam upazila.

According to BGB and local sources, 4 to 5 Bangladeshis entered India through border pillar number 919 of the Lohakuchi border late at night. At that time, BSF members on patrol at 78 BSF West Chamta Camp of Sitai Police Station in Cooch Behar district of India fired at them. Nurul Islam (60) was shot and died on the spot. Later, other companions brought his body into the dark of night. On receiving the information, the policemen on duty at the Goral area investigation center of the upazila recovered the body.

Lalmonirhat 15 BGB captain Lt. Colonel Mofazzal Hossain Akand confirmed the truth of the incident and said that a flag meeting has been called in this regard.
