Dhaka Bureau: Today is the 75th anniversary of the Bangladesh Awami League, the leading party in achieving the country’s independence through the great liberation war. On this occasion, party president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by giving flowers. On Sunday (June 23) at 7 a.m., the Prime Minister paid tribute to Bangabandhu’s portrait at No. 32, Dhanmondi. Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to Bangabandhu’s portrait along with the top leaders of the party, first as Prime Minister and later as President of the Awami League.
The national flag and party flag were hoisted at the party’s central office and nationwide party offices at sunrise on the Awami League’s platinum jubilee. On this day at 10:30 in the morning, a delegation from the Awami League Central Executive will pay respects at the tomb of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who is lying in eternal sleep in Tungipara, Gopalganj.
The members of the delegation are: Awami League presidium member Lieut. Colonel (Retd.) Muhammad Farooq Khan; Central Committee Member Abul Hasnat Abdullah; Presidium Member Shajahan Khan; Organizing Secretary SM Kamal Hossain; Agriculture and Cooperative Affairs Secretary Faridunnahar Laili; Education and Human Resources Affairs Secretary Begum Shamsunnahar; Health and Population Affairs Secretary Dr. Rokeya Sultana; Central Executive Member of Parliament Sahabuddin Faraji; and others.
Besides, the discussion meeting will be held at the historical Suhrawardy Udyan. The program will be inaugurated at 3 p.m. by hoisting the national and party flags, playing the national anthem, and flying balloons and pigeons. After that, there will be a discussion meeting and cultural program at 3:30 p.m. Sheikh Hasina will preside over this meeting. Central leaders of the Awami League, invited guests, party leaders, and workers from all levels will participate.
It should be noted that the course of the Awami League was glorious for the last seven and a half decades. In this long journey, the organization has conquered all the obstacles in the struggle to establish the rights and democracy of the Bengali nation and attached one feather after another to the crown of success. There are very few organizations in the world that have been fortunate enough to celebrate their 75th anniversary with consistent success. Similarly, the Awami League has the rare fortune of celebrating its silver jubilee and golden jubilee of its founding with glory, success, and achievement.
