Actress Sunetra in the Land of No Return

Entertainment Desk: Her name will remain in Dhaka film history as the heroine of many super-hit films. The film ‘Palki’ directed by Delwar Jahan Jhantu, released in 1990, gave him a different kind of popularity. The heart-wrenching story of a village woman suffering from leprosy touched the hearts of countless viewers. Here he was seen opposite Farooq, the legendary hero of the Grameen Saga. Alone was in the dual role of mother and daughter.

Sunetra is a popular actress from the nineties. The news of his sudden death came on Friday (June 14). Chitranayak Zayed Khan, former general secretary of Shilpi Samiti, confirmed the news of his death in a Facebook post.

On Friday (June 14), Zayed Khan wrote on Facebook, “One time popular heroine, one of my favorite childhood heroines, anyone who fell in love with eyes, she is Sunetra. He left Bangladesh for a long time and came to Kolkata. I spoke on the phone several times when I was the general secretary of the Film Artists Association. Today I suddenly heard that he is no more; he has passed away. He went away in silence. This is how people get lost and leave. You will be fine on the other side. I will watch many movies and miss you.

Actress Sunetra’s original name is Reena Sunetra Kumar. But in Bengali films, she is known as Sunetra. Sunetra has a reputation in both the Dhaliwood and Tollywood film industries.

She was cast as a heroine opposite Jasim, Sohail Rana, Farooq, Zafar Iqbal, Ilyas Kanchan, and Manna, all the busy heroes of Dhaliwood at the time.

Basically, his acting journey started on the stage. Director Mumtaz Ali brought him to Dhallywood. Sunetra’s first movie was released in 1985, opposite hero Zafar Iqbal, named ‘Usila. But the movie ‘Palki’ directed by Delwar Jahan Jhantu in 1990 brought Sunetra the most recognition. He did not have to look back after that. He has appeared in several successful movies.

The film ‘Ghar Bangga Ghar’ opposite Zafar Iqbal is considered to be the last Bangladeshi film starring Sunetra. It was released in 1992. After that, he worked in Kolkata films for some time. In 1999, Sunetra’s latest film, ‘Daanab’, was released there. In that film, she acted opposite Kolkata stalwart Victor Banerjee.
