Own Correspondent: Three people were caught by a mob during extortion in the identity of DB Police at Padua Tewarihat in Lohagara, South Chittagong. One private car used by them and a file of documents were intercepted. They were arrested by the mob on Tuesday, June 11, at 7 p.m. The arrested three people, along with the private car, have been handed over to Lohagara police station.
The arrested wanted to see the vehicle documents from the CNG-powered autorickshaw driver, identified as Md. Manshuf Mia (55), identified as DB Police. If the driver refuses to show the documents, the fraudsters demand Tk 5,000. Otherwise, he threatened to file a case and go to jail for 4 months. At one point, the CNG-powered autorickshaw driver snatched Tk 1200 from his pocket.
At that time, if the crowd is suspicious, try to know their identity. Then the fraudsters tried to escape with the car. As a result, the crowd stopped them and informed the Lohagara police. Before this incident, the fraudsters took the jack from a fruit seller named Nurul Islam of the same market. But the jackal did not pay the price by threatening the identity of the police.
Among those detained are Mozammel Haque Chowdhury (35), son of Abdus Sattar of Janar Kenochia area of the Kenochia union of Satkania upazila; Mohiuddin (26) son of the same father; and deceased Md. Haji Nazir Ali of Bahdarhat Karaipara area of Chittagong city. Son of Idris. Elias Babu (55). A case has been registered against them at Lohagara Police Station under the Speedy Trial Act.
