 Wanted justice by claiming innocence Dr. Muhammad Yunus

Dhaka Bureau: Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus has claimed his innocence and expects justice from the court. He made this demand to the court of Judge Syed Arafat Hossain of Dhaka Special Judge Court 4 on Wednesday. The court asked ACC Public Prosecutor (PP) Mosharraf Hossain Kajal to read out the charges against the accused.

Dr. Muhammad Yunus, PP. 14 people, including  have been charged under sections 4(2) and 4(3) of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2012. You are not guilty or innocent. At the time, Dr. Yunus, who was in jail, claimed to be innocent. Along with him, 13 other accused also claimed their innocence. He demanded justice from the court.

The court then ordered the framing of charges against them. And fixed July 15 as the date for taking the testimony.

The other defendants in this case are the managing director of Grameen Telecom. Nazmul Islam, director and former managing director. Ashraful Hasan, Director Parveen Mahmud, Nazneen Sultana, Md. Shahjahan, Noorjahan Begum, and Director SM Hajjatul Islam Latifi, Advocate Md. Yusuf Ali, Advocate Zafrul Hasan Sharif, President of Grameen Telecom Sramik-Karmachari Union. Kamruzzaman, general secretary Feroz Mahmud Hasan, and representative Md. Mainul Islam, Office Secretary Kamrul Islam.

Before this, on June 2, the hearing of charges against Dr. Yunus and 14 people ended. Later, the court fixed June 12 as the date for the order in this regard.

On June 2,  entered the court and sat on the bench. Dr. Yunus. Then, from the court, Except Dr. Yunus, the remaining accused were asked to go to Dog (Kathgarh). Dr. Yunus volunteered to stand in the iron cage with everyone. He stood there for three minutes. Then the judge asked everyone to leave the courtroom. Dr. Yunus came out of Kathgara.

 out of Kathgara Dr.  Yunus said, ‘Two Nobel Prizes were given. One is in my name, and another is in the name of Grameen Bank. There is no precedent in the history of the world that a Nobel laureate has been sued by another Nobel laureate, the ACC said. It’s on our foreheads; it’s part of the curse. We are carrying this curse.

He said, ‘I have been thrown out of Grameen Bank. There has been an investigation committee against me. There is no escape—one thing after another. I have reached a great stage of my cursed life.

On May 30, 2023, Nobel laureate ACC filed a case against 13 people, including Dr.  Muhammad Yunus. Gulshan Anwar, deputy director of the organization, filed the case as the main plaintiff.
