City Reporter: A fire has taken place in a Jhoot warehouse in the City Gate area of the port city of Chittagong. Six fire service units are working to control the fire.
The fire service said that the fire started around 10 a.m. on Wednesday. However, the fire service officials could not immediately say anything about how the fire broke out.
It was initially known that Jhoot’s warehouse had different types of yarns, apart from various types of machinery. Meanwhile, a warehouse containing jute cloth and yarn caught fire, engulfing the surroundings in black smoke. As a result, the firemen have to get speedy in extinguishing the fire.
Eyewitnesses said that they first saw smoke rising from the warehouse around 11 a.m. The fire started instantly. Gradually, it takes on a terrible form. Panic spread. The fire service was informed.
Assistant Director of Chittagong Fire Service MD Abdul Malek told the media that a total of six units of Agrabad, Bandar, and Bayezid Bostami stations of the fire service are working at the scene. The fire is almost under control. But it will take some time to extinguish completely.
