Bashir Ahmed, Bandarban Representative: Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Minister Bir Bahadur Ushaisingh MP said that the Awami League government is sincere in the development of Bandarban and Chittagong Hill Tracts. People are already getting the benefits of various development projects implemented by the government. He said that the government has developed all areas including education and health in the hills. In order to continue this trend, he urged the Awami League to vote and win in the next national election as well.
He said this while inaugurating 4 development projects including academic and technical education buildings of Mro Residential High School at a cost of Tk.
Member of Parliament (MP) elected from Bandarban Bir Bahadur also said that the Awami League government believes in development and peace. Having been given the opportunity to run the Awami League government for fifteen consecutive years, Prabhut has made great progress in all areas. With a long-standing stable government, there has been development across the country. Therefore, Bangladesh will be able to stand tall in the world if the continuity of development is maintained by winning the next national elections.
Earlier, Minister of Mountains Sualak Mro inaugurated four development projects of residential schools. These four projects are implemented under the supervision of Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board (CHTDB).
CHTDB Bandarban Unit Executive Engineer Abu Bin Mohammad Yasir Arafat said that the projects were implemented at a cost of Tk 2 crore 79 lakh. These are – construction of dormitory building of Mro residential school at a cost of 1 crore, construction of technical building of school at a cost of 99 lakhs, construction of auditorium of school at a cost of 40 lakhs and construction of boundary walls and gates at a cost of 40 lakhs.
CHTDB Chairman Nikhil Kumar Chakma, Deputy Commissioner Yachmin Parveen Tibriji, Superintendent of Police Md. Tariqul Islam were present in the opening ceremony.
According to CHTDB Bandarban Unit sources, under the Annual Development Program (ADP), Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board (CHTDB) implements these projects to improve the quality of these educational institutions specialized for the Mro community. This educational institution was started in 1980 with 50 students. Currently more than three hundred students are studying here. All the students of this fully residential school belong to Mro community.
Later, the Minister for Hills inaugurated the day-long reunion program organized on the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of Mro Residential School.
