Sports Desk: Uganda won a historic victory in the second match of the T20 World Cup for the first time. The East African nation defeated Papua New Guinea by three wickets.

The fight between the two teams in Guyana was intense. Papua New Guinea did not speak at all. So Uganda sweated to win. Papua New Guinea were bowled out for 77 runs at the start of the low-scoring match. In response, Uganda also collapsed in batting. Five wickets fell for 26 runs. In the end, after losing seven wickets, the team anchored in the port of victory in 18.2 overs.

Riyazat Ali Shah, one of Uganda’s rising stars, has guided the team in times of dire straits. His careful innings of 33 runs off 56 balls helped the team win.

He got out very close to the team’s 75 runs. So he became the man of the match. Papua New Guinea has also benefited from their batting as well as their uncontrolled bowling. Wide gave 15. That made Uganda’s run-chase even easier.

Papua New Guinea’s poor batting was largely discussed over Uganda’s good bowling. 43-year-old Frank Nasbuga and 21-year-old Zuma Miyagi helped set the scene. Both have spawned extraordinary spells.

Nasbuga was frugal at best. He took 2 wickets with 4 runs in 2 maidens in 4 overs. Moreover, he has also made another feat in the T20 World Cup. In 2012, Ajanta became the second bowler after Mendis to bowl 20 dot balls.

Apart from this, Alpesh Ramjani and Cosmas Kyuta took two wickets each. Only three players scored double-digit runs in PNG’s innings. Lega Siaka (12), Hiri Hiri (15), and Kiplin Doriga (12).
