Own Correspondent: The police said that the missing child Ayat was thrown into the water after being killed in the EPZ police station area of Chittagong. The police informed this information on Friday (November 25) about Abir Ali, who was arrested for his involvement in the incident.
On November 15, 6-year-old Ayat went to study Arabic in a nearby school from his house in Bandartila area of EPZ police station. He has not been found since then. The next day, his father Sohail Rana filed a general diary (GD) at the EPZ police station on the complaint of missing.
Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Chittagong Superintendent of Police Naima Sultana said that 19-year-old Abir Ali was once a tenant of Ayat’s grandfather’s house. Presently he lives in Akmal Ali Road. Worked in a garment factory. After reviewing the CCTV footage of the incident, he was arrested from his home around 11 pm on Thursday.
About Abir, the SP said that six months ago he got a mobile SIM card on the street. He kidnapped someone and bought a new mobile phone to collect the ransom. Thinking that Ayat’s family is rich, he plans to kidnap the child.
On the afternoon of November 15, Abir tried to kidnap Ayat. When the child screamed, he was strangled to death. Later, the body was taken to Akmal Ali road house and cut into six pieces. He took the pieces in two bags and threw them in the embankment adjacent to the area.
The SP also said that the cane and anti-cutter used to cut the verse into pieces have been recovered. Divers have been working since Friday to recover his body parts.
