The earthquake was felt at 2:44:59 p.m. on Sunday (June 2), Farzana Sultana, assistant meteorologist at the Earthquake Monitoring Center, said.
The assistant meteorologist said that an earthquake of magnitude 5 has struck Myanmar, which was also felt in various parts of the Rangamati district of Bangladesh. The origin of the earthquake was 442 km away from Dhaka.
Meanwhile, according to India’s National Seismological Center (NCS), the magnitude of the earthquake was 5.5 on the Richter scale. Its origin was 175 km southeast of Ngopa town in Mizoram, and its center was 110 km below the surface.
However, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) estimates that the magnitude of the earthquake that struck south-southwest of Mawlaik, Myanmar, was 4.8.
Earlier, on May 29, an earthquake was felt in various parts of the country, including the capital, Dhaka. Its magnitude was 5.4 on the Richter scale.
