Dhaka Bureau: The advance sale of train tickets is starting today from Baribar in view of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. Train tickets will not be sold at any counter during Eid Yatra; all tickets are available online only. Tickets for the western region opened at 8 a.m. today. And the sale of tickets for the eastern region will start at 2 p.m..
Like the last few years, five-day train tickets will be sold on a special basis before Eid. 20 special trains will be run to different destinations across the country during the Eid journey. But these train tickets will not be sold in advance.
Even tickets for standing travel will sell 25 percent of the total seats. Standing tickets will be sold at the station counter two hours before the departure of the train.
According to the work plan of the Eid-centric railway, the total number of seats on the train departing from Dhaka this time is 33,500. Before Eid, tickets for the intercity train for June 12 will be sold today, June 2.
And June 13 tickets will be sold tomorrow on June 3, June 14 tickets on June 4, June 15 tickets on June 5, and June 16 tickets will be sold on June 6.
Railway Minister Zillul Hakim told reporters after a ceremony at Rajbari yesterday afternoon, “There will be no suffering for people traveling by train on Eidul Azha.” With people’s prayers and your support, we will be successful in this Eid journey. We are trying to make people return home this Eid without suffering.
In total, 20 special trains will be run in the eastern and western regions to handle the increased passenger pressure during this year’s Eid journey.
Among them, two pairs of Chandpur Eid Special trains will run on the Chittagong-Chandpur route, one pair of Dewanganj Eid Special trains on the Dhaka-Dewanganj route, and one pair of Mymensingh Eid Special trains on the Chittagong-Mymensingh route.
It has been decided to run one pair of Cox’s Bazar Eid Special trains on the Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong route, two pairs of Sholakia Eid Special trains on the Bhairab Bazar-Kishoreganj and Mymensingh-Kishoreganj routes, and one pair of Parvatipur Eid Special trains on the Joydevpur-Parvatipur route.
Apart from this, two pairs of Gor-e-Shaheed Eid special trains will run on the Parvatipur-Dinajpur route and the Thakurgaon-Dinajpur route. Chandpur, Dewanganj, Mymensingh, and Cox’s Bazar Eid special trains will run from June 12 to the day before Eid and for seven days from the day after Eid. Sholakia Eid Special and Gor-e-Shaheed Eid Special will run on Eid only. Parvatipur Eid Special will run for three days from June 13 to 15 and for three days after Eid from June 21 to 23.
