Dhaka Bureau: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that police will not take responsibility for former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed if he commits a personal crime.
He said this on Saturday (June 1) at the TSC Auditorium of Dhaka University at the prize distribution ceremony of the madrasa students’ speech competition.
Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that if former IGP Benazir Ahmed is corrupt, it is his personal matter. The police will not take responsibility for this. What he did will be known only after an investigation.
“He has not been banned yet,” he said. I heard that he left the country before that. I don’t know about his departure, though. I will talk about this after knowing the details.
On the issue of the murder of Jhenaidah-4 Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Anwarul Azim Anna, the Home Minister said that the main case was in India. So the government of India can apply to the United States.
He said orders have been issued to arrest them wherever they are. Arrangements will be made to bring back the fugitives from Nepal. Those who are guilty will be dealt with according to the law.
