Satkania Correspondent: A youth was beaten to death for allegedly stealing paddy in Satkania. The incident took place on Wednesday (May 29) night in the Sarwar Bazar area of Ward No. 6 of the Amilaish Union of Satkania Upazila.
The name of the deceased young man. Mohiuddin (32). He is a resident of the Chadha Union of the upazila.
OC Priton Sarkar of Satkania police station said that the local people cut the paddy and kept it in the under-construction building of Shah Parwal Madrasa. Paddy was stolen from there before. That’s why they were on guard. At around 10:30 p.m., three people took a small pickup and went to steal paddy. They put five sacks of paddy in the car. Local people saw them and chased one of them. The other two escaped.
The OC said Mohiuddin died after being beaten by people. On receiving information, the police went and recovered the body. Preparations are underway to take legal action in this incident.
