Chandpur Correspondent: Miscreants hacked a grandmother and grandson to death in Hajiganj, Chandpur, late at night amid heavy rain due to Cyclone Remal. The seriously injured granddaughter was sent to Comilla Medical Hospital at night. If his condition worsened there, he was sent to Dhaka Medical Hospital. The incident took place at Bakaul House in West Radhasa, Bakila Union No. 2 of the upazila, on Monday night. The miscreants carried out the murders wearing veils. The PBI investigation team visited the spot around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
The deceased are Arafat (12), son of Yusuf, a sixth grade student at Sreepur High School, and his mother Hamida (70). The injured Halima (14), daughter of Yusuf, is a Class IX student at Sreepur High School. The doctor said that his condition is critical.
Bablu of Khan Bari of that village said, Arafat’s mother Shaheen called me at around 12:30 in the night, and a robber broke into their house. He called, saying that many people had been hacked. Later, it was announced on the microphone of the local mosque that the robbers of the Bakaul house had escaped. Later, some people, along with me, went to that house. I went and saw the dead body of the expatriate Yusuf’s mother lying on the bed. His son Arafat and daughter Halima are lying injured below. Blood was oozing from their bodies.
After that, with the help of the imam of the local mosque and others, we carried the injured on the road and brought them to the hospital in a battery-powered autorickshaw from the neighboring house. Arafat died on the way. From the hospital, Arafat’s sister Halima was sent to Comilla Medical. I heard that they were sent to Dhaka Medical for better treatment from there. His back and chest were bruised.
Autorickshaw driver Zaheer said it was raining heavily at night. Locals brought the injured Arafat and his sister Halima to my house after approximately 12:30. Later, we brought them to Hajiganj Upazila Health Complex by autorickshaw.
Locals said, leaving three buildings, why did the “bandits” hide in the tin house? When the bandits entered the house with the intention of ‘robbery’, no gold ornaments were lost from the house. Even Hamida Begum has a gold chain around her neck and gold earrings in her ears.
Muhammad Abdur Rashid, OC of Hajiganj police station, said that he went to the scene at night after receiving the news of ‘robbery’ during heavy rain. The matter is being looked into.
District Police Superintendent Mohammad Saiful Islam confirmed the information and said that the expatriate population of Kuwait. Yusuf’s mother, Hamida, was sleeping in a separate room with her grandson and granddaughter. It is believed that the miscreants broke the door of their residence at some point in the night and hacked them with sharp weapons. The police recovered the bodies of the grandmother and grandson and took them to the police station. An investigation is going on in this regard.
Rabiul Alam Tarun, a member of the local union council, said that expatriates. Yusuf’s mother lived in a separate residence. So, due to bad weather, the two children went to sleep with their grandmother at night instead of staying with their mother.
