Rangamati Correspondent: The only communication bamboo pole in Narangiri No. 1 ward of Raikhali Union No. 2 of Kaptai Upazila of Rangamati has been washed away.

The belt is 70 feet long. On Monday (May 27) at 3 o’clock in the morning, the dam was broken by a landslide that came down from the Narangiri Canal upstream of the heavy rains.

The residents of the neighborhood have suffered greatly since the Sankoto was swept away. At present, about 100 families in this neighborhood are under house arrest. It is said that the dam broke due to the landslide that came down from upstream on Monday late at night.

Residents are suffering greatly. Especially school students and working people are unable to leave their homes. Despite our repeated appeals to the government, a permanent bridge over the canal has not been constructed.

The chairman of No. 2 Raikhali Union said that the sheet broke on August 9, 2023, due to heavy rain. At that time, we, along with the villagers, repaired the road and made it passable. An application was then made to LGED for the construction of a permanent bridge over this canal.

But so far, no permanent bridge has been constructed on this canal. We demand the construction of a permanent bridge over this canal.

When Kaptai Upazila Engineer Monirul Islam Chowdhury was contacted, he said that a project to construct a permanent bridge on this canal has already been passed, and soon a permanent bridge will be constructed on this canal.
