Dhaka Bureau: US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Donald Lu has left Dhaka after a three-day visit.
The plane carrying him left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 16. During the visit, he participated in several meetings and exchanged views at different levels of the government and private sector.
Donald Lu came to Dhaka on a three-day visit last Tuesday. During the visit, he met with civil society, journalists, and environmental activists. Last night, the Prime Minister’s Private Industry and Investment Adviser held a meeting at the residence of Salman F. Rahman.
On Wednesday, Lu also met with Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen, Environment Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury, and Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud.
Later, in a joint briefing, Donald Lu said that the United States wants to improve relations with Bangladesh. My visit to Bangladesh is to build new confidence in the relationship between Bangladesh and the United States.
