City Reporter: Professor Rezaul Karim has been appointed as the new chairman of the Chittagong Education Board. This information was informed in a notification signed by Mocha, Rebecca Sultana, Deputy Secretary of Government, College-2 Branch of the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education, on Tuesday. Rezaul Karim will replace Prof. Narayan Chandra Nath, who is acting chairman of the Board of Education. On January 18, this year, the post became vacant after the post-retirement leave of Chittagong Education Board Chairman Prof. Mustafa Kamrul Akhtar. Board Secretary Professor Narayan Chandra Nath was serving as acting chairman ex officio.
Professor Rezaul Karim’s house is in the Palakata area of Chakaria. He joined the General Education Cadre in the 15th BCS. Later, he taught as a professor and head of the Department of Islamic History and Culture in various colleges, including Sylhet’s MC College, Chittagong College, Hatia Government College, Sir Ashutosh Government College, Patia Government College, Chittagong Government City College, and Kongbazar Government College. He also served as secretary of the Chittagong Education Board. He last served as Director of Secondary and Higher Education, Chittagong Region. He is a writer, researcher, and poet.
