Dhaka Bureau: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended the 61st Convention of Engineers Institution Bangladesh (IEB), the country’s oldest professional institution. He attended the convention organized at IEB premises on Saturday (May 11) morning. The Prime Minister will inaugurate the convention.
The theme of this year’s convention is ‘Engineering and Technology for Smart Bangladesh’. The main attraction of the convention is the national seminar titled ‘The Engineers for Transforming Technology-Driven Smart Bangladesh’. On the occasion of the convention, a press conference was organized on Friday. IEB Spokesperson and General Secretary Engineer SM Manjurul Haque Manju read out a written statement at a press conference at the Engineers Institution in Ramna, capital.
Presided over by the President of the Engineers Institution, Member of Parliament Engineer Md. Abdus Sabur. In the press conference, the President of IEB said that they will raise 12-point demands with the Prime Minister.
These demands include the appointment of engineers in place of non-engineers in the top posts of engineering organizations, the creation of an engineering wing in the Prime Minister’s Office, the inclusion of Chief Engineer to Executive Engineer in the ‘Warrant of Precedence’, the implementation of LGED, textile, agricultural strategy, and ICT cadres, and the resumption of the recruitment process for the BCS Telecom cadre, which has been closed since 2006.
