Dhaka Bureau: Chairman Milton Samaddar told the court that there are currently 45 children in the ‘Child and Old Age Care’ ashram. At one stage of the hearing, he said, there are currently 45 children in the ashram. Asks DB to take them.

On Sunday, May 5, Milton Samaddar was brought to court after a three-day remand by Deputy Inspector Mohammad Kamal Hossain of the DB Mirpur Zonal Team.

After that, DB Police Inspector Shikder Maitul Alam applied for a 7-day remand along with arresting him under the Human Trafficking Act. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehra Mahbub granted the application to arrest him in the human trafficking case. Besides, after the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Shanta Akhter’s court granted his 4-day remand.

On this day, Milton’s lawyer, Abdus Salam Shikder, told the court that the child who is the subject of the case was adopted by the ashram’s cook with a written stamp. After 18 years of marriage, she had no children, so she adopted the child. At that time, the lawyer submitted the stamp to the court with the addition of Feristi.

Earlier, Milton Samaddar was produced in the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court of Dhaka around 1 p.m. Meanwhile, he was kept in the CMM court cell. On May 2, the court granted Milton’s 3-day remand in the case of Mirpur Model Police Station on the charge of making a fake death certificate. Earlier on May 1, the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective (DB) police arrested Milton Samaddar in a raid in the capital’s Mirpur area. Three cases were filed against him on the charges of forging death certificates, torturing people in torture cells, and human trafficking.

In the statement of the case, the plaintiff mentioned that on September 6, 2020, he saw a two-year-old child lying in front of Dhanmondi Boys School of Sherbangla Nagar Police Station. Then he called the police station. But as the police did not take any action, she called Child and Old Age Care and took the child to Milton Samad. The plaintiff himself went with them. Milton Samader adopted him (the plaintiff) as guardian of the unnamed child. After meeting with Milton Samader, the child was admitted to Child and Old Age Care in exchange for 10,000 takas. Then Milton Samaddar said the child can be adopted through the court.

After a few days had passed like this, Milton Samaddar suddenly called me one day, abused me, and asked me not to go to his establishment again, not to inquire about the child. After that, several other people called me and threatened me. I did not go there again for fear of my life. After recent news came to the attention of the institution, the child was not found on April 24. There was no answer about the whereabouts of the child. The plaintiff alleged that the child was trafficked.
