4 killed in a truck-CNG collision in Noakhali

Noakhali Correspondent: Four people were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a CNG-powered autorickshaw in Noakhali’s Begumganj. The accident took place on Saturday, May 4, around 5:30 a.m. on the Lakshipur to Noakhali road in the Chandraganj Purba Bazaar area of the upazila.

The deceased are Md. Rehmat Uliah Bhuiyan (65) of Latifpur village of Chandraganj police station of Lakshipur district, Army member Fazlul Karim (50), and Md. Alauddin (45) of Amania village of Lakshipur. Another person has not been identified.

Chandraganj Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ruhul Amin confirmed the truth of the incident. He said that around 5:30 am, a passenger CNG truck was traveling from Lakshipur towards Begumganj when it reached the Chandraganj East area of Begumganj, and the truck and passenger CNG collided head-on. Meanwhile, the truck and CNG fell into the canal 15 feet below the road. Four people, including the CNG driver, were killed.

OC Ruhul Amin also said that the rescue operation is still going on. So far, three bodies have been recovered. One body is still in the canal. The details will be known after the rescue operation is over.
