Own Correspondent: Finally, the much-awaited relief rain has started in Chittagong. It started raining with thunder in some places in Chittagong around nine o’clock today on Thursday. Before this, there was light rain in some places on Wednesday night.
The rain brought relief to the people; however, the duration of the rain was short-lived. The people who were sweltering in the intense heatwave were excited to see the rain. Meteorologist Abdul Barek of the Patenga Meteorological Department said that the first light rain fell around 2:30–3:00 yesterday morning. Basically, it is monsoonal rain. The measurement of that rain was 1 mm. After 9 a.m. today, the measurement of the rain will be available after 12 p.m..
More rain is forecast in Chittagong today. Abdul Barek said there is a possibility of more monsoon rains in Chittagong after noon. As the amount increases, the temperature will decrease further.
The lowest temperature recorded in Chittagong today was 26.5 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature yesterday was 35.2 degrees Celsius. At 6 a.m., the humidity was 84 percent.
Meanwhile, many people got wet in the first rain of the season. Many also give status updates about rain on social media.
It should be noted that Chittagong has been experiencing extreme heat for almost two weeks. Among them, the temperature was more than 36 degrees Celsius on April 15. After that, the temperature fluctuated between 34 and 35 degrees. Uncomfortable heat is felt due to temperature as well as air humidity. This rain brought temporary relief, but it did not last.
