Bank robbery in Ruma-Thanchi: 7 remanded, including 2 women

Bandarban Correspondent: The court granted remand to 7 persons, including 2 women arrested on suspicion of KNF in separate cases of robbery of Sonali and Krishi Bank of Ruma-Thanchi, attack on the mosque, and looting of the arms of security personnel in Bandarban on April 2 and 3. Five of them were granted remand applications for two days, and two women were granted one-day interrogation at the jail gate.

Bandarban Chief Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Nazmul Hoshain granted the remand application on Monday, April 22, at 1 p.m..

According to the police, three people have been granted two days of remand in the Rumar arms robbery case and two in the Thanchi bank robbery case. On the other hand, in the same case of Thanchi-Ruma, the court granted the remand application for one-day interrogation of two women at the prison gate.

Court Police Inspector Fazlul Haque confirmed the matter and said that Gemini Bum (20), Aselong Bum (19), Bhannum Nuam Bum (23) in the Thanchir bank robbery case, Lalrin Tloang Bum (20), Bhan Nuam Thang Bum (37) in the Ruma arms robbery case., Bhan Lal Thang Bom (45), and Lal Lia Siang Bom (57) were granted remand by the court.

Earlier, the court granted two-day remand to 54 people arrested on suspicion of Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF), an armed organization involved in bank robbery, attacks on mosques, robbery of arms, and kidnapping of bank managers in Ruma, Bandarban. On the same day, a woman was granted remand for a day’s questioning at the prison gate.

Joint operations to arrest terrorists, recover weapons, and recover money have been going on since the robbery of Sonali and Krishi banks in Ruma and Thanchi on April 2 and 3, kidnapping of bank managers, looting of money, and looting of 14 weapons by police-Ansar. Army, BGB, RAB, police, and Ansar members are participating in the operation. The army is coordinating the operation.

In the joint operation, 66 people, including 21 women, have been arrested and sent to jail in Thanchi and Rumar Sonali and Krishi bank robbery and weapons cases.
