Sylhet Correspondent: A fire has occurred at the Kumargaon power generation plant in Sylhet.
The fire started around 9 a.m. on Monday, April 15. On receiving the information, five units of the fire service brought the fire under control in one and a half hours. In this, there is a temporary shutdown of electricity supply in some areas under the coverage of rural electricity, including Sylhet city.
Electricity Development Board Sylhet Sales and Distribution Division Chief Engineer Mohammad Abdul Qadir said that the high-voltage cable of rural electricity in the power station was torn and sparked, and the fire started. The air filter of the power plant caught fire. As a result, power supply has stopped in some sub-centers.
Deputy Assistant Director of Sylhet Fire Service Mohammad Abdur Rahman told the media that after receiving the information, five units of the Fire Service went to the spot and started extinguishing the fire. The fire was brought under control around 10:30 a.m. However, the extent of the damage was not initially known.
