Kishoreganj Correspondent: The country’s biggest Alpana festival, ‘Alpanay Boishakh 1431’, is being organized for the eighth time to highlight the contemporary culture of Bengali on the world stage. This festival has started in Haor Upazila Mithamain with the aim of entering the Guinness Book of World. Artists are painting the 14-kilometer road from Mithamain Zero Point to Ashtagram Zero Point in Alpana.
‘Alpnay Boishakh 1431’ begins on Friday (April 12) at 4 p.m. with an Alpana drawing. Parliament member Asaduzzaman Noor inaugurated the Alpana drawing work. Asiatic Experiential Marketing Ltd., Banglalink Digital Communications Ltd., and Berger Paints Bangladesh Ltd., a joint initiative of artists, have come to the field to paint the streets.
Although the Alpana festival was not organized for the last few years due to the global pandemic corona virus, this time, ‘Alpanay Boishakh 1431’ is back with its eighth edition. To spread the charm of Boishakh across the country, traditional alpanas will be painted in a total three parts of the country, including Dhaka, this year. One of these is Mithamaine in Kishoreganj.
The first day of the festival was attended by Kishoreganj-4 (Itna-Mithamain-Ashtagram) Member of Parliament Rezwan Ahmed Taufiq, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Detective Branch (DB) Haroon Or Rashid, Kishoreganj Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad, Distt. Superintendent of Police Mohammad Russell Sheikh, and eminent artists. Moniruzzaman is the Chief Operating Officer and Director of Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited. Mohsin Habib Chowdhury and Banglalink Digital Communications Limited Chief Human Resource and Administration Officer Manjula Morshed, Mithamin Upazila Awami League General Secretary Sameer Kumar Vaishnab, Mithamin Sadar Union Chairman Sharif Kamal, and local dignitaries.
In the opening ceremony, the speakers said that this unstoppable attempt to set a world record will brighten the country’s image in the world. As a result, the bond of harmony will be stronger. This huge event will be recognized by the Guinness World Book as the world’s largest event. This whole area of Kishoreganj will be known to the world. The door of the tourism industry will be opened.
650 artists have already joined to decorate the 14-kilometer road from Mithamin Zero Point to Ashtagram Zero Point. Alpana will finish the drawing and apply for the Guinness World Record.
The closing ceremony of Baisakh 1431 in Alpna will be held tomorrow, April 14, the first Baisakh. It will be attended by Minister of State for Posts and Telecommunications and Information Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak, Group Managing Director of Asiatic Three-Sixty Iresh Zaker, and Chief Corporate and Regulatory Affairs Officer of Banglalink Digital Communications Limited Taimur Rahman.
The organizers hope that Baishakh 1431 will spread the charm of Baishakh in three traditional districts of the country: Kishoreganj, Khulna, and Dhaka.
