Dhaka Bureau: Government property worth around Tk 650 crore has been recovered in the Burirtek area of Mirpur in the capital. On Tuesday (March 9) at 9 a.m., under the direction of Dhaka Deputy Commissioner Anisur Rahman, the land recovery operation was carried out.
According to the Dhaka District Administration Office, this government property was being illegally bought and sold in the name of some illegal occupants, Alinagar Housing, Haveli Properties, and Khatun Properties, for a long time. The property was acquired in favor of the National Housing Authority in Case 05/72-73 L.A. As the National Housing Authority kept this property unused for a long time, in 2009, the then Dhaka Deputy Commissioner re-acquired this property. In view of this, the gazette of readmission was published in 2015.
According to the published gazette notice, the amount of reclaimed land in C.S. 3101, 3102, 3103, 3104, 3105, 3106, 3107, 3121, and 3123 dags of Baunia Mauza under erstwhile Mirpur (now Pallabi) Thana is 10.18 acres. As per the Gazette notification, the record has been corrected by including the reclaimed land in Khas Khatian. All the illegal structures have been removed from about 6 acres of land today. Government signboards were placed on the reclaimed land, and boundaries were demarcated with barbed wire fences. It is said that the eviction process will be ongoing on the remaining land.
After inspecting the recovered land, Dhaka District Commissioner and District Magistrate Anisur Rahman said that this land will be used for various public welfare activities, and the Dhaka district administration’s activities to protect government property will continue.
Meanwhile, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) supervised the land recovery operation through law enforcement forces. Shibli Sadiq Besides, Dhaka Senior Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Amit Kumar Saha and Mirpur Revenue Circle Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Arnab Malakar conducted the eviction process.
