Arrested 3 with 220 kg of deer meat in Barguna

Barguna Correspondent: The Coast Guard arrested three poachers with 220 kg (5.5 maunds) of deer meat at Patharghata in Barguna. They were arrested in the Bishkhali area of Haringhata of the upazila on Monday (April 8) afternoon.

The arrested are Mohd of Dakshin Bazar village in Sharankhola police station in Khulna district. Son of Oli Hossain. Afzal Hossain (45), son of Abdul Haque of Tafalbaria village in the Patharghata upazila of Barguna, Harun (35) is the son of the deceased Abdul Karim of the same village. A. Mannan (55).

According to the Coast Guard, an operation was conducted in the Bishkhali River adjacent to Haringhata under the Patharghata police station under the leadership of Bangladesh Coast Guard Station Patharghata contingent commander M Firozzaman yesterday on the basis of secret information. During this time, 220 kg of deer meat, three deer heads, and one engine-powered wooden boat were seized. At the same time, three deer hunters have been arrested. Later, all the evidence, including the recovered meat and the arrested persons, was handed over to the Patharghata Forest Department. A case has been registered against them at the Patharghata police station.

M. Firozzaman, Contingent Commander of Patharghata Station of the Coast Guard, said that the arrested were trying to secretly hunt and slaughter deer in the Sundarbans area and sell the meat. They were caught in our raid.
