Dhaka Bureau: The judgment day in the case of the abetment to suicide of Aritri Adhikari, a student of Vikarunnisa Noon School and College in the capital, is scheduled for Tuesday (April 9). Judge Abdullah Al Mamun of Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge-12 of Dhaka will announce the verdict. The two accused in the case are Nazneen Ferdous and Zeenat Akhter. They are on bail.

On November 27, after presenting the arguments of the state and the accused, the court fixed the date of judgment for January 21. However, as the verdict was not ready that day, it was postponed to February 8. As the verdict was not ready that day either, the date was postponed to March 3. For the same reason, the court postponed the date of the announcement of the verdict to April 9.

In the case of Aritri’s suicide, her father, Dilip Adhikari, filed a case on December 4, 2018 at the capital’s Paltan police station.

On March 20, 2019, the investigating officer of the case, Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) Inspector Kamrul Hasan Talukdar, filed a charge sheet accusing the two teachers. On July 10, 2019, the court framed charges against the two teachers. The court accepted the testimony of 15 out of 18 witnesses in the case.
