Dhaka Bureau: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, ‘I and my sister Sheikh Rehana have donated all our properties to the trust for the benefit of the people. We have none, and we have donated our property for the welfare of the people.’
The Prime Minister said this when the management team of the Sheikh Fazilatunnecha Mujib Memorial KPJ Specialized Hospital and Nursing College paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence in Ganabhaban on Wednesday (April 3).
He said, ‘We have established community clinics across the country to ensure basic health care facilities for people. As a result, child and maternal mortality rates have decreased.
KPJ Healthcare Berhad President and Managing Director Chin Kit Chuan led the team. Youth and Sports Minister Nazmul Hasan was present at this time. After the meeting, Prime Minister’s speech writer Md. Nazrul Islam briefed the journalists.
The Prime Minister said that the Sheikh Fazilatunnecha Mujib Memorial KPJ Specialized Hospital has been established in the industrial area so that the workers and people of the area can easily get Medicare benefits.
He also recalled that once the people of Bangladesh were poor and deprived of health care, he said, “We have been able to reduce the poverty rate.”
The 250-bed hospital is managed by KPJ Healthcare Berhad, a renowned private healthcare company in Malaysia. KPJ Healthcare Berhad currently has a chain of 29 hospitals in Malaysia.
Named after Bangabandhu’s consort Sheikh Fazilatun Nesha Mujib and established by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Trust in Kashimpur Union of Kaliakair Upazila, Gazipur, this 250-bed world-class hospital has been serving people since its establishment in 2013.
It has become the first Integrated Management System (IMS)-certified hospital and nursing college in Bangladesh, creating confidence in healthcare for patients. The international organization Bureau Veritas awarded it in 2017 for its contribution to the health sector of Bangladesh.
